As you may or may not remember Marty was gifted 4 tickets to see the Columbus Clippers play.



However, by the time the game came around he was not well enough to go. He said that Kevin and I should go and take some friends, and so we did.

Marty had a beautiful funeral. Lowes employees that Marty worked with (Marty had been with Lowes a bit over 10 years)came together and he was remembered and laid to rest in Lowes style :) The only way it would have been better to Marty is if he were laid to rest by the Tennessee Titans team :D

The day before Marty moved to Ohio, team members from Lowes got together and presented him with a new Lowes vest that was signed by the employees. Marty wore that vest and at his grave site, he was given a new Lowes hat signed as well.

Marty was burried in Tennessee.

And all good things

Must come to an end. Marty passed away on 7 August 2010 at 2:45 a.m. I spent the final day with Marty holding his hand while I read a book.

I dont feel sad that he has passed, but I fee somehow sad that he will no longer be here. I have gained a closeness with him in the last 6 weeks that can not be explained.

Martys passing was a fast process in my opinion. It took him about 3.5 hours to make his exit and I was prepared for it to take much longer than that and I am greatful for the quickness.

Marty has always been a very private man, and he was a loner in most ways. However, in his final 9 months he just wanted people to be with him and to never be alone. He and I talked weeks ago when he was given his final timeline of 2-8 weeks and I promised him that he would not be alone at the time of his passing. That Kevin and I would be there with him no matter what.

Marty fought his ending for hours with Kevin and I by his side and then a nurse suggeted that maybe he would like to have some privacy for his passing. I quickly said no way, I promised him I would not leave him alone! As I watched his struggle for a few more moments, I thought there would be no harm in allowing him a few moments to see if that is what he needed. With a heavy and torn heart, I told him we were going to get a drink, use the bathroom, give him a few minutes to get some rest and then we would be back to check on him.

4 minutes later, Marty made his exit :) He just wanted to be alone :) He is greatly missed by many :)

Just because...

You live in the city, in a large apartment complex, does NOT mean that you have to miss out on ANYTHING!!!!


At 10:30 p.m. I went outside to borrow diapers from my neighbor (long story short, Phillip has a stomach bug and used 3 diapers in 20 minutes and I just KNEW I wasnt going to have enough to get through the night!) on my way, just outside of my door a different neighbor had sat the trash out for the morning pick up...









Thats right. That is NOT a cat. It IS in FACT a skunk and yes, I was that close to him/her. S/he scored a piece of pizza crust and had some dinner :)

So I completed my "yoga sock" I lost the pattern, so I just "wung it"....again.




The next one will have a mate, and it will be more size correct lol

Phillip just turned 3! I told Marty that I got Phillip a Spiderman cake for his day and he said that he wanted to buy him a Spiderman suit! So....ta-da.....






He got a cool firetruck from his great-grandmother....

Accomplishment!

So, about 2 weeks ago a dear friend showed me the basics of knitting. I have fallen madly in love with the art. So here are a few things that I have completed. All full of mistakes of course, but here are some details.

This is a set of hats that I have made. None came out to be the size they were suppose to be lol.

They are useable, just not for the heads I had intended to use them for :)



This is my first completed hat that came out the size I needed and isnt filled with dropped stitches and weird mistakes lol

I used no pattern, I just used my famous wing it method :)






This is a set of yoga socks that I have on my needles.

Twilight....again.

I borrowed the books from a friend the first time I read the series. This time I bought them from someon (and for only $5 per book!!!) and I am starting the series again!

Nothing makes me feel as good as some very serious, I will kill you love lol

Just an update, take 2

So, for those that need to be caught up, my Step-father, Marty (aged 46) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in November of 2009 after being very sick and in the hospital since July of 2009 (the fact that it took the medical system 4+ months to diagnose this illness is just simply disgusting to me!). He has large tumors in all of the Lymphnodes in his chest, which push on his lungs and heart.

After 8 months of Chemo and being in various different hospitals and clinics, he and my mother moved in with Kevin and I in hopes that he could get better care here at OSU's The James cancer center. Unfortunately for him, he recieved the truth at his first appointment with Dr. Walker. He has no chance for survival, he is far too weak for more Chemo and he was given 2-8 weeks (he is now entering into week 2)to survive.

He is numb from the waiste down, he has lost all use of his legs....otherwise though, he is doing great.

Last week, before he lost the complete use of his legs (he has been in a wheel chair for over a month now, but could still use his legs, they were just weak, now he cant feel them at all) he was able to go see an Indians game with Kevin, this was on his "do before I die" list. There was an amazing man at the Indians office that gave them free first level box seats, and gave Marty a signed hat! He had a truely amazing time! Everyone treated him with excellent care!







He still has full use of his mind though. So he is able to talk with all of us, watch tv and spend time with the children!

I have became addicted to the art of knitting! I call it an art. Some of the things I have seen are truely amazing! I have successfully completed 2 hats and 1 washcloth :) I have 2 more hats on my needles and I plan to start making mittens and socks to match all of the hats! I wanted to have it all finished by fall.

Abagael has joined Karate and is LOVING it! She goes 7 hours a week! The girl is a machine!!!


I began working a couple of months ago. I work as a Nanny for an amazing family with 3 amazing children! They are aged 4, 6, and 8. Super smart, energetic children!

I am starting to feel a bit like the Waltons! We have 4 adults and 2 children in a 3 bedroom one level apartment lol There is NOWHERE to hide if you need a break! I dont even have wood to chop, clothes to hang out or veggies to pick to give me a few moments of solitude!

To say that my mother and I are like night and day wouldnt even come close to touching it! We cook differently, we sleep differently, we talk differently, we parent differntly, we have different views on everything....we even have very opposite religious beliefs. Two peas in the same pod, we are certainly not. Somehow though, we are making it work one day at a time.

I suppose that is enough for now, I will add pics *hopelly* today. I will update more as there is more to tell :)
